Is LinkedIn trying to be the next Wordle?
LinkedIn Games / Chasing Happiness / The Opinel #6
Happy Friday. Here are some things.
A new game to play on your phone in the bathroom.
A quote to think about while “watching the kids swim”.
A cool knife you definitely don’t need but should buy anyway.
New Distractions
The pandemic will be remembered for the thousands of people who died, the strange effects on the economy, and work from home. Sure.
It will equally be remembered for sourdough bread, tiktok dances and wordle.
In typical fashion, LinkedIn seems to be late to the game and has rolled out its own version of the NYT Games app. LinkedIn Games
There are three games so far and all are a decent way to kill a few minutes while the IT guy watching your browser history thinks you’re “networking”.
Apparently, I’m crushing it. 50 Games in and only 2 connections are playing. We’ll see if it sticks or if LinkedIn is a little too slow to the market.
New words to think about
"You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life."
A 133 year old knife
My actual bedside table drawer
I carry a knife every day. It’s a fancy pants Shinola collab benchmade. It’s great. It was also expensive as all hell and I will cry a single very manly tear if I lose it.
Fortunately, there is another wonderful knife to slip into my pocket when I’m in the shop, the garden, or anywhere else I need a workhorse I can risk losing.
Opinel has been making fantastic knives for over 100 years and as long as they make them, I will continue to buy them.
They strike a perfect balance of simplicity, cost, and functionality. They absolutely deserve all the awards they’ve earned.
Though the No.08 size is the most famous, but the No.06 is by far my favorite. The perfect size to get things done but slips easily into a pocket.

Oh, and get the carbon steel one. I promise.
Be good.
